IS it a common courtesy or simply the law to give way to buses?

The question had Sunshine Coast Daily Facebook readers seeing red.

In this week's Road Rule Rumours column, police cleared up the rules on giving way to buses.

Acting Sergeant Mark Johnston confirmed it was, in fact, law to give way, but a bus driver should indicate for five seconds.

Dozens of people weighed in on the debate on our Facebook page.

Tim Butterworth: Bus drivers should use common sense. Everyone should give way to buses when it's busy, but I hate it when they pull out in front of you when you're the only car on the road.
