Scalzo to Make Ideal Start

Article excerpt

SCALZO can make a perfect start for new owner Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum by landing the 888Sport Charity Sprint at York.

Previous owner Rick Barnes agreed to sell his star three-year-old for an undisclosed sum after his impressive seven-length demolition job at Haydock last month.

Previously a Doncaster maiden winner, Scalzo made quite a splash on his handicap bow on Merseyside, making a mockery of his initial mark of 77 as he breezed home in taking fashion without really coming under any pressure at all.

Likely's maiden win last year looks excellent form and despite the fact she will be having just her second racecourse outing, she merits support in the Winner Bet & Watch Scurry Stakes at Sandown.

She saw off Mattmu by five lengths at Carlisle last May and that one has thoroughly enhanced the form since, chasing home Limato in the Redcar Two-Year-Old Trophy before going on to Listed and French Group Two success. …
