LONG LOST FAMILY ITV, 9pm Peter Gunn, a 39-year-old man whose birth mother gave him up for adoption when he was only nine months old, sets out to track down his biological mum. For years, Peter struggled with a sense of rejection, but having overcome his resentments, he now seeks to answer some burning questions about his past. Meanwhile, 71-year-old north Wales resident Ron Williams asks for help in his lifelong quest to track down the estranged younger sister with whom he spent an idyllic childhood - until she was adopted.

DIY SOS: THE BIG BUILD BBC1, 8pm Wednesday is fast becoming the most emotional night of the week - anyone in need of a good sob can watch DIY SOS and then turn over to ITV for Long Lost Family. This Big Build looks set to be particularly moving, as it introduces us to Hull couple Liz and Jason Liversidge, who married in 2009 and quickly started a family.
