Article excerpt

THE Northumberland Plate Festival has become one of the premier events on the North East sporting calendar, attracting thousands of race-goers from the region and beyond.

The three-day bonanza - the pinnacle of which is the John Smith's Northumberland Plate Race Day on Saturday, June 27 - is expected to attract around 50,000 people this year.

It's a fair bet that not one of them will be able to appreciate the blood, sweat and tears that have gone into making this festival such a showpiece event.

One of the unsung heroes is Coopers Marquees, which has more than 100 years' experience of providing marquees for high-profile corporate events around the world. The special feature of the village is the Diamond Marquee, a luxury glassfronted marquee in the centre course overlooking the race track.

Up to 350 guests will be able to enjoy a raft of indulgent features including a champagne and canape reception, a personal racing tipster, a grand buffet lunch, afternoon tea, an unlimited bar, entertainment and live music.

Most of the tickets have been snapped up but there are still some available for racing enthusiasts who want to come along to watch the Saturday showpiece.

Jonathan Cooper, director of Coopers Marquees, said: "We are thrilled that we have been chosen once again to be a key partner for such a prestigious event. The Plate Festival is one of the highlights of the racing calendar and has brought rich entertainment to thousands of people in recent years. …
