Devils Hoping to Put a Curse on Their North Hosts; SPEEDWAY

BERWICK Bandits and the Newcastle Diamonds play host to the same side this weekend in the search for Premier League points as the Plymouth Devils race their annual North East tour.

The Berwick leg of their tour takes place at Shielfield Park tonight with a 7.00pm start as Berwick open their home turnstiles for the first time in four weeks. Bandits' top man Ben Barker is ensconced in a Wolverhampton hospital with three fractured vertebrae - the result of an horrendous crash in heat one of the British Final on Monday night.

His place will be covered by guest Richie Worrall.

At number two, Berwick will be granting a British Speedway debut to new Argentinean racer 20-year-old Fernando Garcia, known as Coty, who comes highly rated with an allaction reputation.

Tonight also sees the return to Shielfield Park of Ricky Ashworth, who suffered terrible head injuries in a crash at Scunthorpe in the summer of 2013, finally coming out of hi coma 91 days later. …
