MOTORSPORT: Speedway solo racer Josh Coyne hopes to one day be earning a living from pursuing the sport he loves, after making it to the Australian titles this year.

After only his third season racing competitively, Coyne made it to the Australian Solo Speedway Championships in January, held over 10 days in Adelaide, Mildura and Undera in Victoria and Kurri Kurri in New South Wales.

"It was a lot of driving," he said.

After four rounds, Coyne finished in the top 15 and will look to better his position in next year's championships.

"I'd never even seen one (Australian titles) before, let alone raced in one.

"It was an awesome experience and I learnt a lot," Coyne said.

He is currently racing in the Hessernan Motorsport Series which began in March and after five rounds competing from Adelaide to Sydney he is sitting in the top 10.

Coyne said he put in a lot of hard work on the weekend in Nepean to finish in the top five.

He has been riding motorbikes since he was six and grew up surrounded by them, but did not ride competitively until he was a teenager. …
