Bakery Wins 'Dough' in Town Proud Competition

BORN and Bread Bakery owners Brad and Alison Reeves can't wait to knead into $10,000 worth of advertising.

Born and Bread was the lucky winner of the $10,000 advertising package, drawn from the hundreds of Toowoomba businesses who had signed up to say they were Town Proud.

The prize includes $5000 advertising in The Chronicle and $5000 at Southern Cross Austereo.

The Reeves opened their first shop about 12 years ago and have since expanded the business to four sites in Toowoomba.

The business name comes from a true history of being "born and bred" in bakeries, as Mr Reeves is a fourth generation baker.

A black and white photo on the bakery wall shows his great grandfather, grandfather and two great uncles working in a bakery in Rockhampton in the 1930s.

Mrs Reeves was a primary school teacher in Toowoomba before they opened the store.

"We're grateful for the opportunity to have four shops in Toowoomba," she said. …
