Angry Esk Man Cops a Spraying

A STRUGGLE with the police ended with an Esk man sprayed with capsicum spray and an officer injured.

Police had been called to an address in Toogoolawah in response to a domestic disturbance.

When they arrived they found Bo-Dean Pleavin in a heated argument with his partner.

After Pleavin failed to comply with police requests officers tried to restrain the 23-year-old.

The situation escalated when Pleavin became involved in a struggle with police.

Pleavin continued to thrash about even after police sprayed him with capsicum spray.

At one point, Pleavin pushed himself off a kitchen table and fell on to one of the officers.

As a consequence, he faced Ipswich Magistrates Court this week, charged with serious assault against police.

The incident took place on April 23.

Magistrate Donna MacCallum said the policeman Pleavin landed on had injured himself as a result.

The officer was treated for bruised ribs and a possible hairline fracture. …
