A SMALL piece of skin taken of in the wrong spot of a finger can be hell for a darts player.

Clarence Valley Darts League president Glenn Phillips found that out when he nicked a bit of flesh off on the electric planer and had to step up to the Oche last weekend at the South Grafton Golf Club.

Although Clarence beat Hasting District 71 to 61 in their monthly North Coast Darts Legue match, it was thanks to the B and C grade teams.

The men's and ladies' A grade teams both lost 8 to 3.

Phillips, who throws in A grade, said the injury did not help his game.

"The pain of the dart resting on the injury did not help my concentration," he said.

"I still managed to throw some good scores though."

The last time Clarence met Hastings Districts, the teams drew.
