Pride Coach Supported in Accepting A-League Opportunity

BRISBANE Roar-bound Karl Dodd plans to continue helping out Western Pride until a new coach settles into the regional National Premier Leagues club.

Dodd, 34, was to officially coach his final game on Saturday night against his former club Palm Beach.

However, an FFA Cup match forced the game to be rescheduled to a later date.

Dodd finishes up at Pride this week to start a new assistant coaching role with A-League club Brisbane Roar.

"It was not an easy decision to leave,'' Dodd (pictured) said.

However, Pride's head coach declined to comment further until he finalised "some formalities and staff changeover'' arrangements.

Dodd joined Pride this season after a distinguished 14-year playing career which included a stint with Queensland Roar in 2005 and 2006.

Western Pride general manager Pat Boyle is in the Northern Territory on holidays.

While disappointed to lose someone of Dodd's calibre, Boyle said it was another sign of how Pride gave players and coaches an opportunity to achieve higher goals. …
