TOMORROW Maryborough will look like a page out of PL Travers' most beloved novel when the Mary Poppins Festival comes to life.

The highly anticipated event will be held in Maryborough's Portside precinct, with the festival transforming the Heritage City into Cherry Tree Lane of the Poppins novels and bringing its characters to life, including the world-famous nanny and Admiral Boom, who fires his time cannon throughout the day.

"The Mary Poppins Festival is not only a great family day but it's great for the community," councillor Darren Everard said.

"This event keeps growing each year and offers the region unique experience - so come and enjoy it."

This year the festival has had a huge build-up, being held in conjunction with the new Street Life Festival.

The Street Life Festival has given the creative and talented musicians and artists of the Fraser Coast an outlet to showcase their abilities, with busking events and other imaginative endeavours held across the region over the past week. …
