THIS year's Ballina Fine Wine and Food Festival is on target to be the biggest and best.

The festival has doubled its exhibitor numbers in two years.

Festival chairman Col Lee said: "We have capacity exhibitors for the first time this year, testament to the festival's growing reputation."

But unlike other busy major food festivals, this would be a "user-friendly" affair, Mr Lee said.

"The difference between what we do and other festivals is that our target market is 30-plus," Mr Lee said.

"Wherever relevant we use local foodies, whereas other festivals pump them in from everywhere.

"We have only boutique beers and can be selective.

"As well as having very different exhibitors, we are proud to say this year we have the best entertainment that Ballina has seen for a very long time with Wendy Matthews and Rachael Beck."

Chris McLean, sales manager for Cricketer's Arms, a boutique beer sponsor, said the brand was proud to be affiliated with the growing boutique-focused festival. …
