Dad Golfs for a Cause That Hits Close to Home

YAMBA father-of-three Chris Durrington remains positive that researchers are close to finding a cure for the chronic illness cystic fibrosis.

Mr Durrington was an integral part of yesterday's Coast2Course cystic fibrosis fundraising event, describing it as a cause that hit very close to home.

"I have three children all under the age of six who suffer from cystic fibrosis," Mr Durrington said.

"It is a condition that is close to my heart.

"One was admitted recently to the CF ward. It is so hard, you walk around the hospital and just see the kids who are struggling, who can't leave their rooms. It is very tough.

"There is plenty of room to lift these kids' spirits, they can't leave their wards so they get football stars to come around, that is all from charity and raising funds."

Cystic Fibrosis is the most common, genetically acquired, life-shortening illness affecting young Australians today but Mr Durrington said there is no point being negative because that will get researchers nowhere. …
