Maggie is an 8-year-old spayed female boxer mix. She was released to the St. Johns County Pet Center because her family was having a new baby. She is a very sweet pet who is house- and crate-trained, good with older children and seems to get along with fellow furry friends. Meet her at the pet center, 130 N. Stratton Road, just off U.S. 1 in St. Augustine. Adoption hours are 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday. Gates close at 4 p.m. Saturday. Also at the St. Johns center is Kelvin, a 1-year-old male tabby cat whose owners gave him up because they could not make time to care for him anymore. But they said he is good with cats and dogs and is housetrained.

Julie is a 3-year-old black domestic short-hair who spends hours in her cage playing with her toys and entertaining herself. She is spayed, current on all vaccines, microchipped and has been vaccinated against rabies. Meet her at Jacksonville Animal Care and Protective Services, 2020 Forest St. Hours: 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday. Drake is a Labrador retriever mix, less than 2 years old, with loving eyes and a fantastic smile. He also has a beautiful black coat with white markings and alert "radar ears." He's tons of fun, and he loves squeaky toys. He's also very affectionate and he's a "leaner" who will lean in on you to soak up all the loving he can. …
