Tradies Part of New Staff at Bunnings

MORE than 120 Ipswich locals have secured jobs at soon to be opened Bunnings Warehouse Springfield Central.

The new team members will start their new careers when the doors open at the $39.5 million store early next month.

Out of those 120 employees, 13 of them are qualified tradies with backgrounds in carpentry, building, brick-laying and painting.

This is a new approach for Bunnings to provide hand-on experience for customers, especially given the high number of people doing their own renovations.

For employee Tyler Rautenbach, gaining employment at Bunnings means he can meet more people within the carpentry industry.

"Before joining Bunnings I worked as a carpenter for six years. I still have a real passion for carpentry and woodworking," he said. "At Bunnings I have the opportunity to work with builders and tap into the knowledge and skills I gained in my trade."

Angela Black is looking forward to applying the skills she learnt in her previous job. …
