A FAMILY trip to see her son in Casino turned into a nightmare for Marita Luckman when she was mugged at the railway station.

Travelling with her 14-year-old grandson from Port Macquarie, Ms Luckman arrived late due to buses replacing trains.

"I couldn't let Troy (son) know what time I was getting in but I rang him when the bus arrived at the railway station," she said.

"There were lots of people about the station, so I said to my grandson, let's walk over to the crossing in the parking area.

"My grandson looked behind and saw two fellas with black hoodies but he didn't take any notice."

Ms Luckman said the two men then ran up behind her, pushed her to the ground and grabbed her handbag, nearly breaking her hand, and ran off.

"I think I busted my knee and I couldn't get up as I've had two back operations," she said.

"I was screaming and the only people who came to my assistance were two ladies who had been on the bus with us. …
