EACH Saturday morning over summer the diamonds at Coulthard Oval are alive with the sounds of kids having fun while they learn to play softball and it's the hope of every club in Bundaberg to get more juniors playing the game.

Across The Waves Softball Club has the motto "making little waves" for its junior program and after receiving a $4300 Giving4Grassroots (G4G) grant from the Australian Sports Foundation (ASF) the little ripples it makes in the sport could turn into a tsunami.

ATW president Lee-Anne O'Leary said the grant would not only go to growing her club, but the entire Bundaberg Softball Association.

The G4G grant will enable Across The Waves Softball Club to purchase bats, balls, gloves and a junior pitching machine - all things to help the development of softball.

She hoped having the extra resources, more juniors who play in the T-ball to Under-16 age group will have the chance to learn the game.

Along with new equipment ATW will purchase, the money will be used to hold 12 come and try clinics which will be held from August to October. …
