WRITERS BY THE SEA HAS A NEW HOME

Amelia Island's Writers by the Sea group has a new home in July, August and September - the expanded meeting room at the renovated Fernandina Beach Library at 25 N. Fourth St. Author and Florida Writers Association Regional Director Vic DiGenti will be the guest speaker at the next meeting 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 16. Writers by the Sea continues to meet the same time on each third Thursday, with writers admitted for free.

PUBLIC HEARING ON BLANDING RANGE

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will hold a public hearing 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Middleburg Community Civic Center, 2102 Palmetto St., regarding a proposal for a 53-acre World War II-era Anti-Tank Rocket and Rifle Grenade Range on Camp Blanding. AARP SMART DRIVER CLASS

AARP Instructor Rita Simon holds an AARP Smart Driver Class 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 18, and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 19, at the Neptune Beach Senior Center, 2004 Forest Ave. Cost is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members. For more, (904) 270-1688.
