MURWILLUMBAH CBD's revolving door continues to turn, churning up and spitting out some businesses while opening up the door of opportunity to others.

Bill Larkin, of Larkin Lighting and Electrical, has bought into the CBD on Wharf St for under $500,000, buying the former long-time optometrist building constructed in 1975.

"It was a better shop for our display and it was cheaper for us to buy than rent at the moment," Mr Larkin said.

His store, which was previously located opposite Main St, sells about 150 lights per week.

While business for Mr Larkin has grown in the past six years, in less than a year Escape Art Gallery on Brisbane St has halved. …
