MARYBOROUGH Netball Association is ready for its biggest day of the year.

The association will host tomorrow's regional carnival, where teams from Bundaberg, Kingaroy, Nanango and Hervey Bay travel to the centre for a full day of games.

More importantly for the club it is the official opening of their new playing surface, which president Rebecca Gundry said was a program 12 months in the making.

"It will be pretty big," she said.

"We've only had it for a few weeks so it's hard to tell but it should allow us to host more carnivals like this one in future.

"It will also enable us to have more people playing netball locally."

Gundry said tomorrow's carnival shaped as an opportunity for people to check out the new surface, and to see the next generation of netball champions from across the region.

The carnival will see competitions from under-11 through to U15, and each age group could have up to 10 teams involved.

"That's a lot of kids," she said. …
