1. Caloundra Country and Farmers Market

2. Climb Mt Coolum

NOTHING is better than the view from the top of Mount Coolum on a clear day. The 208m mountain makes for a challenging trek, best done in the early morning or late afternoon. The average person can complete the climb in just over half an hour, but some fitter climbers race to the top like it's nothing. An estimated 50,000 people climb the mountain each year and it's easy to see why. From the top there are 360-degree views of the coastal area, including Point Cartwright. To the south, one can see the Glasshouse Mountains, with the Blackall Range to the west and Noosa Heads to the north. There are no toilet facilities at the park.

3. Cotton Tree Markets

THE markets, managed by Bloomhill Cancer Help, are held every Sunday at Cotton Tree and feature a range of local fashion, homeware, toys, sculptures, skin care products, jewellery, art and crafts plus plenty more.

Where: King St, Cotton Tree.

When: 7am-noon

4. Garden Expo

QUEENSLAND Garden Expo has a great children's zone with free activities such as a giant slide, cup-and-saucer ride and jumping castle. It's a great distraction for the kids between their parents browsing the 300-plus exhibitor booths at the expo.

Where: Nambour Showgrounds, Coronation Ave, Nambour

When: 8am-4pm

Cost: Adults $18, concession $16, children 15 & under free (with accompanying adult).
