DECADES after the Tyneside TV show The Tube turned on a generation, a new online music show aims to do the same.

More than 30 years after The Tube was first filmed in Newcastle's Tyne Tees studios, The Unsigned Arch is being shot just yards away in the Cluny Studios, in the Ouseburn Valley.

It will be broadcast weekly, with each episode consisting of a performance by a different live band.

Music producer Isaac Parker, creator of The Unsigned Arch, said: "We wanted to create a way for the North East to shout about all the unsigned musical talent we have here and give international exposure to some of the amazing musicians in the region.

"We're excited to help launch the next generation of great North East bands and artists."

The concept of The Unsigned Arch was formed whilst Isaac was studying at music college in London.

He wanted to capitalise on the YouTube style of broadcasting by creating a music show to showcase unsigned bands.

He said: "I knew the North East was the perfect place for the show, as it had the space for what I had in mind and its music scene is unrepresented outside the region.

"However, once you get here everyone knows what is going on.

"We're filming the show in the middle of the Ouseburn Valley.

"It is one of the most vibrant places in the North East for live music and The Unsigned Arch will have great music, great sound and a great setting."

Isaac spent the next two years brushing up his production skills and moved back home to the North East to get to know the local music scene.

Through his research he began making connections and met Tony Davies, from Cluny Studios who joined the project and offered Isaac studio space, as well as his professional skills.

There is a now a team of between five and seven people working on the show, which has been in pre-production stage for almost a year and they filmed their first shoot back in April. …
