IF YOU'VE heard young students across the Gladstone Region describing or sketching about the evil vegetables in our midst recently, you're experiencing the incredible superstar influence of author Andy Griffiths, hosted during the 2015 Curtis Coast Literary Carnivale events, last week.

If you missed out don't worry, you'll still be able to explore the great student responses as well as contribute your own illustration to the collaborative Your Treehouse artwork, during The Many Story Treehouse Exhibition celebrating Terry Denton's illustrations for the phenomenal Treehouse series by Andy Griffiths & Terry Denton.

The exhibition features original illustrations by Terry Denton, as well as his sketches and layouts showing the development of crazy ideas, characters and stories for The Treehouse series developed with author, Andy Griffiths.

Curated by Books Illustrated, Melbourne, and presented by the Curtis Coast Literary Carnivale along with the Gallery & Museum, the exhibition continues until August 22.

The Gallery & Museum is a community cultural initiative of the Gladstone Regional Council, open 10am to 5pm Monday to Saturday, located on the corner of Goondoon & Bramston Sts, Gladstone and admission is free.


In conjunction with ACO VIRTUAL, local musician Ian Watts has generously loaned a collection of strings instruments to accompany the exhibition.

The display includes mandolins, violins and a selection of lutes from different countries, as well as ukuleles, rebecs, guitars, violas and a sitar.


The Gladstone Region Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) Committee hosted their Annual General Meeting (AGM), last Wednesday July 15, appointing the 2015-2016 committee. …
