Chilling Winters to Hit McKittrick; Utility Keen to Keep Family Name Alive

GRAFTON Ghosts young utility back Cameron Winters is only new to the Battle for the River derby between the Ghosts and the South Grafton Rebels - but that does not mean he does not know what is at stake.

The Dubbo rugby league junior grew up playing in some of the most heated local derbies where one-eyed fans were an understatement.

"I remember one week one of the local Dubbo boys painted a whole car blue and crushed it with all this earth moving equipment as a message to the opposition," Winters recalled. "There was a huge rivalry out there between the Raiders and the CYMS - and it is the same up here."

The Dubbo product comes from a long lineage of former Ghosts legends with his father Graham Winters playing for the Grafton side in the 1980s and his uncle Des Winters racking up more than 100 games for the Ghosts. …
