Coach Urges Cats to Guard against Complacency

SUNDERLAND Ladies head coach Carlton Fairweather has urged his high-flying side to avoid another banana skin when they take on WSL1 bottom club Bristol Academy tonight.

The Black Cats head for the west country on the back of four straight wins, including a 4-0 thumping of unbeaten leaders Chelsea.

The Wearsiders' colours, however, were nearly lowered by second division outfit Durham in a midweek Continental Cup derby that almost produced a shock result.

Sunderland needed a last-minute own goal from Wildcats keeper Anna Moorhouse to scrape a 2-1 win at New Ferens Park that got their group campaign off to a winning start.

It's now back to league action and Fairweather, delighted with his side's efforts this season, is aware performance levels have to rise after the midweek scare.

"We got the result we wanted in the end, but it was hard work," said Fairweather after the great display against Chelsea we took our foot of the gas at Durham. …
