Comeback King Day Wins Canadian Open

FORMER Rockhampton golfer Jason Day birdied his last three holes to win the Canadian Open yesterday.

Firing four-under 68 in the final round for a tournament total of 17-under 271, Day won the title by one shot from American Bubba Watson with Canadian David Hearn a further shot back.

Heading to the 18th hole, Day was one clear of Watson and Hearn and was determined to claim the victory.

Nerved by his late form at St Andrews, Day drained a monster putt from just inside 6.7m at Glen Abbey's 18th to seal the win.

"First thing I said was I've got to get to the hole this time, that's what I said in my head," Day told PGA Australia.

"I gave myself an opportunity out there and I took it, which was great.

"To be able to do that it gives me a lot more confidence going into the rest of the season.

"Right now I'm just going to try and soak it in as much as possible. …
