HARNESS RACING: Anthony Collins tips more than 60 nominations for the Father's Day Charity Trots at Allman Park on September 6.

Last year, the Darling Downs Harness Racing Club held a meeting in Warwick for the first time on a Sunday afternoon.

Warwick-based club president Anthony Collins said the feature event would be the $5000 Garrard's Warwick Cup.

"The cup will be run over 1950 metres which means the horses will start at the 200m mark and give the crowd a fantastic look at the start," he said.

Collins is aiming for eight races with a maximum 10 horses in each race on the Sunday.

The field size has been increased from eight to 10 this year after approval from Racing Queensland stewards.

Warwick will be beamed into homes and TAB's across the nation as the harness racing meeting will be only the second TAB harness meeting on grass in Queensland harness racing history.

"Albion Park and Redcliffe tracks are made of crusher dust but the trainers and drivers enjoy the chance to race on grass," Collins said. …
