BLOOD Sweat and Tears haven't been to Australia since the early 90s.

Next month, the American jazz-rock band that formed in the 60s will return for a string of shows that will bring them to entertain at Tweed Heads.

Long-time manager, former keyboardist and spokesman for the band, Larry Dorr, has been involved with the group for three decades.

Dorr said they were excited to return.

"We've been talking about this tour for a year," Dorr said.

He said the fans could expect to hear their iconic hits, along with some newer material.

"There will be a few surprises," he said.

The band were thrilled to have the opportunity to return, after countless requests from fans.

Dorr said connecting with fans after the show was a big part of their role.

"It's very important to us because we haven't have a hit since 1972 and so, to still have a fan base after all these years ... we take it seriously," he said.

"When people do come and see us, especially in Australia, we want them to see the greatest show they've ever seen. …
