Clippers Downed Again but Finals Hopes Still Alive

BASKETBALL: Despite losing its past four matches and suffering a 78-104 touch up in its final game of the season last night to Toowoomba, the Suncoast Clippers' finals dream is somehow still alive.

The Clippers are relying on Brisbane to win its final three matches of the season including a top of the table clash in Mackay.

If Brisbane complete the feat, they will take out top spot of the QBL and gift the Clippers the final playoff place in the central Queensland pool.

American import Mike Stone continued his run of good form in the loss and said the team was still gearing up for finals regardless of the poor result.

"We've have to attack it as if we're going to be in the finals," he said.

"Our inconsistency has been unfortunate because it seems we can play with the best when we're at our best.

"We just have to make sure we're ready to roll.

"We're going to go after it with that mentality."

Despite the import's run of good form, Stone could only look on in awe as Toowoomba's American imports ran rings around the Clippers combining for 71 points between them. …
