Duke Simon THIS time last year she was just Lola from Latimer's but the fishmonger with the big voice is now part of The X Factor alumni.

East Boldon's Lola Saunders has had a busy year since making the live shows of the TV talent contest last year.

After a whirlwind few months of gigs and appearances following her exit from The X Factor, Lola has been in the studio with Artful Dodger and had a very popular cameo in the Customs House Comedy Gala in February.

Like headliner Joe McElderry, Lola was in great spirits ahead of her slot at South Tyneside Festival, even if the weather wasn't playing ball to begin with. Lola said she was looking forward to being able to sing some of the songs she did on X Factor without the pressure of the live shows.
