WITH three reality TV victories to his name - The X Factor, Popstar to Operastar and The Jump - Joe McElderry is still the toast of South Tyneside so he was in buoyant mood ahead of his slot at Bents Park on Sunday afternoon.

Taking a break from touring and partying up a storm in Ibiza, Joe was in the much colder climes of South Shields to entertain thousands of music fans at the final free Sunday concert of this year's South Tyneside Festival.

Friends and family, who of course included his Nana Hilda, were in the park to support Joe and he admitted he had a few nerves.

"I think the day you don't have any nerves is the day you need to be nervous.

"I must say I'm the most nervous I've been for a while today.

"I think it's because it's a home crowd and the gig has been bigged up so much. …
