OLIVIA Geraghty had no idea what to expect when she turned up to her first day of work with the ambulance service.

But it wasn't the work she was nervous about.

Olivia was carrying all the equipment she needed to express breast milk for newborn son Ryan and wasn't sure how her new colleagues would react to a request for lactation breaks.

Although she knew her rights when it came to breastfeeding in the workplace, Olivia said it was still a nerve-racking experience.

Now Olivia is hoping to help other women prepare to return to work, training to become a counsellor through the Australian Breastfeeding Association.

She's sharing her experiences during World Breastfeeding Week, which runs until August 7 and this year focuses on breastfeeding for working mums. …
