CONSUMERS' DEBT REPAYMENTS 'IMPROVING' MORE people are getting on top of their debt repayments, a report has found.

Lloyds Bank said it is seeing "encouraging signs" of people managing their debts, after commissioning research among nearly 4,000 people with non-mortgage debt, between April and June for its Lending Report.

It found 84 per cent of people are now able to keep up with their debt repayments, up from 81 per cent during the first three months of 2015.

FINANCIAL FACT THE average house price in the London borough of Westminster in 2014 was 24 times the average annual wage - meaning it could be described as the least affordable area in England and Wales in which to buy a house - according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

The average home in Westminster was worth PS875,000, while the average salary there was PS36,519.
