Trainee Louis Wins Pro-Am; Gympie Golfer Takes Equal First Place at His Second Pro-Am Outing

GOLF: Gympie golfer Kodi Louis scored five under par to finish equal winner of this year's City of Gympie Pro-Am.

Held at the Gympie Pines Golf Course on Sunday, it was 31-year-old Louis's second Pro-Am, and he competed against almost 200 golfers, including 47 professionals from New South Wales, Victoria and throughout Queensland.

Louis entered his first Pro-Am in Rockhampton three weeks ago while visiting his mother and says he was not really focused on the result in that event.

On Sunday, he placed equal first with Peter Martin and Tim Hart.

"It was a shootout, more or less, for whoever had the best score of the day," he said.

Louis was not surprised by his results because he knew he was capable but did not think he would play like he did on the day.

"I had not had any practice since the last tournament," he said.

He said Hart was the leader of the order of merit, with the most points out of all tournaments or the most consistent throughout all competitions this year. …
