I WAS watching Joanna Lumley on the telly in one of her travel shows, I think she was with some Mongolian nomads (I can't be sure, I'd had two glasses of my nightly libations) when one of the nomads came right out with it and asked her how old she was.

It is apparently a polite question in Mongolian society.

"I'm 68," she replied without hesitation.

How refreshing.

That such a fabulous woman of great celebrity should admit her age on global television without the bat of an unsurgically enhanced eyelid is inspiring.

I have no time for women who lie about their age. Can't be bothered with such vanity.

I'm not too fussed on women who are coy about their age either.

I knew a woman who always lied defiantly about her age, mostly because she liked dalliances with much younger men.

That is understandable I suppose when you trying to get a man 30 years younger than you into your boudoir, or in her case, her lair. She shamelessly zapped decades off her age. …
