Fishermen Hunt: Human Remains Found

HUMAN remains have been found in the search for two fishermen missing since their boat overturned at sea.

Jason Buchan and David Stead have not been seen since the 10ft fishing boat they were on capsized off the coast of East Wemyss, Fife, last Monday.

Another man, Birrell Stewart, who was also onboard, was recovered from the Firth of Forth but later died in hospital.

At the height of the search, lifeboats from Anstruther and Kinghorn were involved as well as the Rescue 131 RAF helicopter from Boulmer, Northumberland, and three coastguard teams from Kinghorn, Leven and St Andrews.

Police Scotland said "partial human remains" have been found at two beaches in St Andrews and the families of Mr Buchan and Mr Stead have been informed.

Chief Inspector Adrian Annandale said: "We are currently investigating two separate discoveries of what appears to be partial human remains.

"The first was found on a beach in St Andrews by a member of the public at around 11. …
