Article excerpt

WHEELCHAIR USER DETERMINED TO WALK PARTS OF ROUTE Disabled student Kate Stanforth, 21, of Stocksfield. WHY I'M RUNNING: On my first GNR in 2013 I was pushed all the way and walked across the final 10m finishing line using my stick.

Last year, I was pushed again but managed to jog the last few metres over the line. This year, I'm hoping to be pushed and walk small intervals of the course, beating last year's distance.

It started by supporting the Great North Children's Hospital last year, and this year we have secured a PS2,500 grant to spread it out across the UK.

All fundraising will go towards next year's boxes so I can continue the project, as it needs to be self sufficient.

NUMBER OF GNRS I'VE TAKEN PART IN: Three SPONSOR ME: PayPal - projectparent@hotmail.com 32 EVENTS IN A YEAR IN MEMORY OF PAL Operations director Kev Brown, 31, of North Shields. WHY I'M RUNNING: Running my fourth Great North Run for Tiny Lives Special Baby Unit and Daft As A Brush. Over one year, November 2014 to November 2015, I will take part in 32 events, two were in the USA - Florida half marathon and the Navy SEALS BattleFrog 15k obstacle course. I have done everything from 5k to half marathons to obstacle courses to fun runs. Everything I do is for the Tiny Lives Special Baby Unit and Daft As A Brush cancer patient care. I hope to achieve two hours 10 this year at the Great North Run 2015. This year I'm running for all the babies past and present at the Tiny Lives unit in Newcastle and for a colleague who passed away, Trevor Currie - the Daft As A Brush charity was very close to his heart. …
