Boss Tells of His Tom Jones Gig Anguish

THE boss of a Teesside firm which organised an ill-fated Sir Tom Jones concert admits he was "heartbroken" by what happened.

But Loose Cannon Events director Neil Winterbottom still won't say if there'll be any refunds until a probe into what went wrong is concluded.

And with the fallout from the Alnwick Castle concert continuing, the company has postponed a charity night due to be held tomorrow in aid of Teesside Hospice and Reagan's Rainbows.

Since the Tom Jones gig on August 8, when the concert ended early after a power failure, Loose Cannon has come under heavy fire on social media from concert-goers angry at the event's organisation.

But in a statement released on Facebook, Loose Cannon says it is "the abandonment of the concert that we believe we need to address as a priority."

The statement adds: "As a company, until the principal issue of the generators failing is resolved, we are not in a position to engage in any discussion about compensation. As and when this changes we will of course inform all interested parties.

"We appreciate that this is what ticket-buyers want to know about, but the facts need to be established and con-firmed and the legal involvement needs agreement between a number of parties. This must be finalised before we can advise on any compensation."

Speaking to The Gazette, Mr Winterbottom admitted: "Noone is more disappointed and gutted - I'd go as far as to say heartbroken - as me about what "We are really keen to inspire new talent and ensure that the next generation of artists and designers are on board and the creative industry is boosted further. It is also rewarding for the young artists, as we display their works in a gallery at our college premises in Middlesbrough, which they love seeing."
