CALENDAR GIRLS (Tonight, BBC2, 10.10pm) HELEN MIRREN and Julie Walters lead a brilliant ensemble cast as best friends Chris and Annie, who hit upon the idea of raising money for leukaemia charities by posing naked for a calendar when Annie's husband John (John Alderton) dies from the disease. The friends' enthusiasm eventually persuades other members of the local Women's Institute to take part and soon 10 others are throwing caution and their aprons to the wind.

Naked |ambition... Helen Mirren LES MISERABLES (Tomorrow, Channel 4, 9pm) FORMER convict Valjean (Hugh Jackman) has reinvented himself as a factory owner in Montreuil-sur-Mer, where worker, Fantine (Anne Hathaway), is cruelly cast out when the foreman learns she has an illegitimate daughter, Cosette (Isabelle Allen). Determined to raise the money to support her child, Fantine sells her hair and then her body as she sobs I Dreamed A Dream. Valjean discovers Fantine close to death and agrees to raise Cosette as his own. The story moves on nine years with revolutionary fervour sloshing through the grimy streets of Paris.

Anne Hathaway HELLBOY (Monday, Film4, 9pm) DEMON Hellboy (Ron Perlman), raised by the Nazis in the final days of the Second World War but weaned from the dark side by paranormal expert John Hurt, joins a team fighting presentday fascist sorcery. Aided by a motley bunch of misfits, the hero has to juggle the demands of his role with his attempts to woo fragile friend Liz (Selma Blair).

Hell to |pay... Ron Pearlman MAMA (Tuesday, Film4, 9pm) BUSINESSMAN Jeffrey (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) kills his partners and his wife, then takes his children Victoria (Megan Charpentier) and Lilly (Isabelle Nelisse) for a drive into the mountains. The car skids off the road and Jeffrey seeks sanctuary with the girls in a rickety cabin. "Daddy, there's a woman outside. She's not touching the floor," Victoria informs her father, shortly before he comes to a sticky end. Five years later, a search party locates the two girls, who have been living wild in the cabin under the watchful gaze of an invisible presence they refer to as Mama. …
