Life Is like an Arancini; but in This Recipe You Know What You're Going to Get and How to Make It

THERE'S nothing like an impending wedding with school friends to make you look back and think about how different (or similar) you are to your teenage self and whether or not life has turned out just how you thought it would.

I'm not sure if I have changed much since high school. My hair colour has - no more blonde. I'm not quite as fit (read skinny) as I was in those days. But overall I think I am the same.

I guess I'll need to ask my friends at the wedding.

In terms of how life has turned out, well again there are some things I knew I was destined for even if the

journey has not been as

predictable as I thought.

I always knew I would end up in journalism. I never

aspired to be an editor but I didn't have a back-up plan when it came to being a reporter - it's the only job I ever wanted to do.

I didn't think I would spend a chunk of my 20s in a relationship and living in Melbourne.

I never thought I would move back to my home town Stanthorpe as an adult in my mid-20s. I never thought I would end up as a deputy editor at a paper in the Clarence Valley and I didn't know I would end up as an editor in the South Burnett.

I knew I would travel but had no idea I would get to go to a wedding in Morocco, a 30th birthday in France, spend a week driving around Bulgaria with one of my best friends and date my way through Turkey.

It's exciting to look back and see all of the amazing experiences life has thrown my way already with friends and family, travel, career and relationships.

Even the terrible times have taught me something and helped get me to where I am.

And I certainly have no idea what is next for me. Though I hope it involves cuddling Daryl Braithwaite while he sings The Horses to me.
