SUNDERLAND legend Micky Gray insists he stands by his criticism of Black Cats owner Ellis Short, although he has admitted he might have been a bit harsh.

The former Wearside defender hit out at Short in a talkSPORT interview last week, which saw him reportedly banned from the Stadium of Light.

And while Gray now says he may have gone to far with the language he used, he feels his criticism of Short's decision-making and the signings the club has made was valid.

"The word I should have used is broken promises," said Gray on the Colin Murray show yesterday. "Calling him a liar, I probably went a little bit too far. I have to hold up my hands and say that, but everything else I said I stick by because it has been broken promises.

"I was angry at the performance I saw against Norwich. Maybe I went a little bit too far, but ban me from the football club? …
