DEFENCE barrister was making submissions on behalf of his client in Toowoomba District Court this week and was explaining that his client came from a respectable family.

His client's father had a very responsible job in the explosives industry for which "he makes bombs", the barrister submitted.

"He makes 'bongs'?" the startled judge asked, referring to the utensil used for smoking marijuana.

"He makes bombs, not bongs," the barrister replied as the public gallery snickered in unison.

NRL fan reckons after watching last Saturday night's Broncos/Roosters game that it's time to move some Sydney-based clubs out of the New South Wales capital.

"A top-of-the-table clash between the number one and number two teams held on a dry Saturday night and the best crowd Sydney could do was 19,000," he barked.

"Had that game been played in Brisbane, Suncorp would have had upwards of 40,000 and possibly 50,000.
