Kaboul Will Come to Sunderland's Defence - When He Is Fit

YOUNES Kaboul will return at the heart of Sunderland's defence when he is back to full fitness, insists Dick Advocaat.

The summer signing started the first two games of the season ahead of the experienced John O'Shea alongside Sebastian Coates in central defence.

However, the Black Cats' back four endured a torrid time against Leicester City and Norwich City, conceding seven times in total.

A minor knee problem for Kaboul saw O'Shea return for the 1-1 draw against Swansea City last weekend, and the defence immediately looked more solid.

However Advocaat still believes that, when fully fit, 29-year-old Kaboul will have the edge over 34-year-old O'Shea. "That is the reason I started the season with Kaboul," said Advocaat, who gave no indication whether the Frenchman would be ready to return at Aston Villa tomorrow.

"He is younger, he is sharper, faster.

"Unfortunately, he got injured, although he will come back soon. …
