Internal Fighting Derails Nambour Trackfest

A DISPUTE over money has derailed a major fundraising initiative for the Nambour Tram project.

Organisers of TrackFest have confirmed the event has been scrapped despite the first night markets and live entertainment event on August 1 being hailed a success.

The second TrackFest was scheduled for September 5 but organiser Cameron Scott took to Facebook to announce it would "no longer exist".

"Unfortunately we were not able to come to an agreement with a local business group and a councillor that helped us facilitate the event," the post said.

However Cr Greg Rogerson, a major financial contributor to Trackfest, said the fundraiser would carry on under a different name and with new leadership.

"We have all worked very hard to ensure that the event and the fundraising effort remain transparent and that we are fully accountable," Cr Rogerson said.

"Unfortunately it became apparent that a separate not-for-profit company was established by one of the organisers and that funds were being directed away from the tram. …
