MANAGER Jitendra Duf-fill expressed a combination of encouragement and frustration after Redcar Bears suffered their 11th straight away defeat of the season, 50-40 at Sheffield Tigers, to leave them still perilously close to the foot of the Premier League table.

The Ecco Finishing Bears are still without a point on the road this season but for much of their match at Owlerton there was every hope that the injury-torn Teessiders might finally rid themselves of their travel sickness.

Without Lasse Bjerre, Adam Roynon and Stuart Robson, they got away to the best possible start with maximum heat wins in the opening two races to lead 10-2. Although the Tigers quickly clawed the gap back, Duffill's side still led 16-14 after heat five and again by two points after heat eight.

But, inspired by some fearless riding from French star David Bellego, which took him past both Bears' guest Matthew Wethers and Matej Kus in heat nine, the home side gradually gained more momentum. …
