CCTV Leads to Man Who Aided in Theft of Classic Car

STOPPING at a service station to get a drink contributed to Stephen John Evans being caught for his part in the theft of a classic Holden car.

The 44-year-old pleaded guilty in Maroochydore Magistrates Court yesterday to towing away a 1949 FX Holden sedan from a Maroochydore shed on May 18.

The court heard Evans was an employee of Valdora Earthmoving and had been working on a site near a Ridge Rd property where the car was stored in a shed.

Police said Evans' boss, Rodney William Kupfer, had called Evans and told him to bring a white Toyota LandCruiser and trailer to the job site on May 18.

The police prosecutor said Kupfer and another man then winched the car from its shed on to the trailer before Evans was told to take the car to the Valdora Earthmoving yard at Yandina.

CCTV footage taken from a service station on David Low Way on May 18 showed a white LandCruiser towing an FX Holden on a trailer.

The driver, Evans, had stopped to buy a drink. …
