Spike in Break, Enter and Steal; Residents Urged to Be Safety Conscious

GRAFTON and South Grafton residents have been warned to be security conscious and lock their homes, garages and cars following a spike in thefts, break and enters and malicious damage.

Recent incidents include:

A WHITE Mercedes sedan was stolen from the Grafton Ten Pin Bowl carpark in Powell St, Grafton between 8pm and 10pm on August 29.

A short time later the vehicle was set alight and destroyed on Clarence Way, Copmanhurst. It was recovered by police at 11.10pm.

Police said the suspects were seen in the vehicle at 10.20pm on Clarence Wy, and may have been seen later driving in another vehicle towards Copmanhurst.

A HANDBAG containing a wallet, keys and personal effects was stolen from a home on Oliver St, Grafton between 2.15-2.30am on August 31. The offender/s had cut a hole in the screen door.

A HOME in Powell St, Grafton was the subject of a break an enter attempt sometime between 9pm on August 30 and 7. …
