ROADSIDE bomb killed 12 policemen in eastern Turkey today after Turkish jets attacked Kurdish rebels and six camps in northern Iraq. A police vehicle was attacked as it escorted customs officials to a border gate in Igdir province. Sixteen soldiers died in a similar attack by the Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK, on Sunday. Up to 40 rebels were reported to have died in the latest air strikes. More than 50 F-16 and F-4 jets attacked the rebels on their escape routes in Iraq.

A BRITISH journalist arrested in Turkey on terror charges has said he feels a "massive responsibility" for his translator, who remains in prison. Jake Hanrahan was held with cameraman Philip Pendlebury while filming on August 27. They were accused of "working on behalf of a terrorist organisation" and "assisting Islamic State" before their release last Thursday.
