Newcastle's Best Player Is Surely Destined to Play in Champions League One Day

Article excerpt

Byline: Olivier BERNARD

MUCH has been made of Moussa Sissoko's comments this week about wanting to play for a Champions League side but, perhaps controversially, I think that's where he should be.

In my opinion Sissoko is definitely good enough to play for a Champions League side, no question.

His pace and power mean that he can be practically unplayable at times when he is really in full flow, and he is just the sort of player top European sides need.

Sissoko is a proven Premier League performer and can dominate games with his athletic ability.

Yes he probably should be more consistent but I think he can single-handedly win games for Newcastle at his best - and that means he could play in the Champions League if he wanted to.

As a big physical presence he is able to drive teams forward and he is a very good box-to-box type player.

Although Sissoko can play out wide right as well I do not think that is his best position - he is most dangerous when he is allowed to roam around in the middle of the pitch and use his strength.

The game in France is different to how it is in England so he is maybe not appreciated as much there as he should be. For me, Sissoko is Newcastle's best player. He is one of the first names on the teamsheet for that very reason.

Sissoko should be looking to move on in the next couple of years and head to a Champions League side because he is an international and should be playing at the highest level.

Obviously Newcastle want to keep him but if you have a player of that quality you have to let them go if someone comes in for them.

If he performs well this season then I think the time will finally arrive when a Champions League club finally makes a move for him.

Toon Army will really take to their new wing wizard NEWCASTLE United fans will really like what they see from Florian Thauvin - he is a very direct player.

He will take on players and make sure he gets out wide, to the byline and gets crosses into the box. …
