BLYTH Spartans hit the FA Cup trail again tomorrow with what manager Tom Wade has branded 'the tie of the round' having reached the third round last season.

Evo-Stik Northern Premier League leaders Blyth face a tough first qualifying round tie and a local derby at Spennymoor Town, who are going well in the league below.

It promises to be a titanic clash at the Brewery Field in front of a large and expectant crowd, Blyth taking a big following to County Durham. Wade said: "Local pride is at stake. It's the tie of the round, and because Spennymoor are at home they will be favourites, just as we would have been had the game been at Croft Park.

"I'd certainly take a replay but both sides will be going all out to win it on the day. It should be a great occasion and a fantastic game.

"We got a really tough local tie first up last year at Darlington and came through after a replay, and this one is just as difficult. I saw Spennymoor lose to Darlington in the playoffs last season. …
